Veterinary Health care products are regulated in India under Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and this does not differentiate between Human Pharma and Veterinary!! Our Industry has faced several obstacles in terms of regulation, licensing norms, ambiguity on feed supplements etc. INFAH is closely working with our Regulators to have better clarity on regulatory guidelines that can address specific requirements of Animal Health Industry. As a consequence of our initiative, CDSCO has requested INFAH to provide a Regulatory Guidance document for Veterinary products, each for Biologicals and Non-Biologicals.
With this move our industry will have the privilege of an exclusive guidelines for Veterinary Biologicals, Therapeutics and Feed supplements. The first meeting between CDSCO officials and Industry stake holders took place on 20th December 2018. The subsequent meeting to finalise the guidelines for biologicals was held on 20th February 2019 and the next is scheduled on 22nd April 2019.
