The 17th Indian Veterinary Congress and XXIVth Annual Conference of IAAVR and National Symposium on 'Newer Generation Vaccines, Diagnostics for Improvement of Animal Health and productivity vis-à-vis Genomic Interventions for the social benefit' was organised on 8-9th April' 2017 at Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI). More than 250 delegates including the academia, research community and industry participated in the conference.
INFAH actively participated in the conference. Dr Arun Atrey, President, INFAH presented about INFAH and its various initiatives. He highlighted the vision, mission and efforts of INFAH in ensuring that Animal Health industry is pro-active and responsive to the growing and changing needs of the country.
Dr Sunil Gupta, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Mr Vijay Teng, General Secretary, INFAH co-chaired the session on Antimicrobials and AMR. Mr Vijay Teng presented the Animal Health Industry perspective with respect to AMR and highlighted the efforts of INFAH towards the same. He also highlighted that all of us have a definite role in the fight against antimicrobial resistance and by doing so, INFAH will be adhering to our moral obligation to the animals to ensure their better health and welfare.
During the session, Dr Nitin Bhatia and Dr D J Kalita also presented the view of Industry on Antimicrobial resistance and its relevance to Animal health industry.
