INFAH meets the PVS-OIE Evaluation Team

As a part of OIE-PVS Evaluation, OIE Representatives have been undertaking visits of the major establishments of Animal Healthcare sector of India to evaluate the country’s animal husbandry infrastructure, policies, manpower and talent. In the second round of discussions, OIE team requested Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (DADF) to arrange a round of discussions with the pharmaceutical and animal feed private sector of India.

Dr Suresh Honnappagol, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, DADF invited private stakeholders and associations for an interactions with OIE team on 13th April 2018 at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi. Dr Shrish Nigam and Dr Shyam Morada represented INFAH as the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Association along with representatives of CLFMA.

OIE discussed the best practices performed from breeding to feeding and retailing of animal protein with perspective of disease control and food safety. INFAH team highlighted their vision, mission, activities, affiliation and the journey travelled so far. The meeting was chaired by Animal Husbandry Commissioner and the discussions were oriented towards zoning across the country, biosecurity, surveillance programs for infectious diseases for livestock and farm animals, Antimicrobial resistance and its concerns, availability of spurious drugs and the standards of animal feed and feed additives as well as animal welfare issues. INFAH and CLFMA jointly and actively participated in the discussions on behalf of the animal healthcare industry.
