INFAH took a small step towards the journey of achieving freedom from malnutrition by contributing in creating awareness of egg protein on the occasion of World Egg Day (9th October 2015) by organizing the following events in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
- Boiled egg distribution and communicating benefits of daily egg consumption to primary school children at Thane Municipal School, in collaboration with AVI, Mumbai.
- Boiled egg distribution and highlighting nutritional value of eggs to primary school children at Aarey Municipal School, in collaboration with CLFMA, Bombay Veterinary College & AVI Mumbai.
- INFAH also actively participated in World Egg Day Celebrations at Bombay Veterinary College, Dr. P. G. Phalke was the chief guest of the event and he awarded prizes of Slogan competition & Egg Shell Art competition to the winners.
- Egg distribution & communicating nutritional value of eggs to girl students of Maa Niketan Orphanage in collaboration with AVI, Mumbai.
The eggs for free distribution were provided by National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC). Pamphlets in local language were provided by Poultry Protein Initiative team of Poultry India. In all the events, there was great level of collaborative spirit, enthusiasm & active participation. Egg is an economical, accessible source of nutrition and having merits of being high protein source to overcome malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies.
